I guess van Buskirk is finally changing his, um, tune on free music. It’s about time.

What that means for the future is that music will either be consumed legitimately and the Internet will be heavily monitored by ISPs, or the lack of fungible outlets for legal music consumption will result in piracy on a scale never before seen in the U.S.

Maybe Google’s new music search project is just a precursor to a deal akin to what they brokered in China earlier this year.
